I have been stashings like mad (I just remembered a couple of sock yarns that I forgot to photograph) because 1)looking at yarn and planning projects relaxes me and 2)I aim to start a new, budgety thinking-of-the-future type of existence wherein the goal is to put away at least 10%, if not more, of my stipend into savings each month. Not sure how successful that will be, especially during those plane ticket-buying or estimated tax-paying months, but it certainly means fewer yarn purchases on the whole. So I have to get it all out of my system now!
I am also starting to think about Christmas presents, and while I would love to knit those from stash, there are very few people that I knit for (read: my sister) who have even the remotest chance of sharing my tastes in yarn/colours. And my mom doesn't want any handknit socks. And I don't stash boring boy colours.

Hee!! Nice job with the graft! You can't even tell in the finished product. You're a sock-a-holic, huh? But that Lotus Blossom shawl looks great. It's a really vibrant colour. What did you use to make it? I'm guessing Koigu, but I honestly have no clue.
I think I'm not going to make knit stuff for Christmas this year, not even for my family. I find that they don't really seem to any of the stuff I've already made for them. So, unless they make requests, I'm not going to make something that they won't use.
I've been pretty good and haven't been stashing lately. I should make an update post soon...just need to get off my lazy butt and take some photos!
Thanks! The grafting took me like an HOUR. Even then, it's not perfect, but I'm glad that at least I didn't screw it up. =)
The Lotus Blossom shawl is made from Fiddlesticks Country Silk (autumn colourway, I think?), which is the recommended yarn. I can't say enough good things about it, it was really really nice to knit with.
I'm not sure that all of my knitted gifts get worn regularly either. Although I know for a fact that the men I knit for (my dad, Jason) wear their scarves/hats pretty much all winter long. =)
You are a booger for refusing to be hired out (as a knitter not a hooka).
Now I will have to wear a scarf mass produced by 4 year olds in China.
