Opinions welome

DSC01683
I took the opportunity to photograph what I've knit so far of Baby Yours in some natural light this morning (and let me tell you we've had very little natural light lately), and that's what it looks like.

So, before I venture forth with the rest of this sweater, I'd like to solicit some opinions from you. Keep on knitting, or start a-froggin'?

[And in case any of you are wondering, I do have my own opinions about this, but I wanted to see what you all say without me polluting your initial thoughts.]

I love it. But it's your call. I think it'll look really cute when it's all done.

I think the cable looks fantastic. The stuff on either side of the cable....I dunno, maybe it will block out but the variegation in the yarn makes the pattern look a little messy.

Do you know if the baby will be a boy or a girl? Because to me, this looks more like a girly sweater than something for a little boy. Or are you not knitting this for a specific baby in mind?

Opinions. I haz them. =)

Hey Karen -
I'm with Adrienne on two counts.. I think the cable looks good in the variegated (which I was skeptical about when you first showed the yarn). You can see the cables really clearly, which is important if you're gonna go through all the trouble. I also agree that the sweater is looking kind of girly. Where I don't agree with Adrienne is on the kind of bobble pattern (maybe Trinity stitch?) on the sides. I actually think it looks kind of fun in the variegated (again, I was skeptical). The light and dark kind of works with the hills and valleys in the texture for me. I don't mind it at all.

I really love variegated yarn and I'm always picking up some. But then I try to knit lace or cables with it and I'm seldom satisfied. As you saw before - my Monkeys ended up kind of mottled and the lace was hidden. I've given up using variegated for anything other than stockinette, I think, so I wouldn't have picked it for this sweater. And yet, I really like how it's coming together for you. It's definitely a big change from the original but it's got a nice energy.

See you Thursday!

Well it is lovely. SO YOU finish it. I love the look but the pattern looks like it would be hard on the wrists. THe part that isnt' the cabling! Great color.
