Finishing what you start

Many of you know that finishing is one of my least favourite parts of the whole knitting process. I try to take as many sneaky tricks as possible to minimize the amout of it I have to do, but sometimes there's just no helping it. And so, after having put it off for a little while, I decided to sew the seams and put the buttons on that Baby Surprise Jacket.

Having learned from the first BSJ that I knit, I resolved to do a better job of the seams this time.

I think they turned out pretty well this time around (and my camera fails at taking close-up shots like that).

With all sorts of friends with something cooking in the oven so to speak, I decided to start yet another baby sweater.

DETAILS
Pattern: Baby Yours by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee
Yarn: Socks that Rock Mediumweight in Jasper
Needles: US size 4 Addi Turbos

I'm not sure about the colour, to tell you the truth. Or rather, I'm not sure about how all those lovely cables will look considering the amount of striping that's happening. I'm not really an experienced cable knitter, so I'm not sure if cables+variagated will still turn out to be perfectly lovely. The only time I've really done cables have been with non-variagated yarns. I do admit to being quite enamored with the pattern so far, and have been enjoying it greatly, so the only question now is if I should really be getting a different colourway.
Any thoughts before I get too far with it?

Yay for another FO! I really need to try the BSJ pattern, it's way too adorable.

Isn't Jasper one of the BMFA semi-solid colours? It's hard to tell from the photo just how variegated it actually is. I think I'd knit a bit more and see how the cables look before coming to a final decision. Also, the yarn is very springy, so probably good for textured knits.

And regarding your last post, yay for one finished Tabi sock! And I don't use anything BUT size 0 needles to knit my socks, so if you're looking for a good home for those needles once you're done knitting the second sock.... =P

The BSJ looks great! I hate finishing too. But you did a great job at it.

Jasper is such a lovely colorway. It'll be so pretty for Baby Yours.

Adrienne: Sure! You're welcome to my size 0 dpns when these socks of doom are finished :D I'm moving painfully slowly on them, so they probably won't be done in time for your visit to TO, but I'm making it my goal to finish them before the project is 1 year old. As for the Baby Yours + Jasper, I've continued to knit a bit more, and see what you mean about the yarn being good for textured knits. You can still see the cables despite the variation in colour. I'm still not 100% sure about it yet, and really think that I'll have to knit a bit more of it to really get a good idea, but it does look quite pretty, so I'm starting to take a liking to it.

Nell: Thanks! As you can probably tell from my reply to Adrienne, the more I knit of it, the more I'm getting used to colour + cables. I'll knit a bit more and then take a picture so I can ask all you lovely people your opinion on things.
