New toy!

Now, living in a small-ish condo, one wouldn't expect Jamie and I to have a membership to a place like Costco, but since I get a discount through work we got one, and do crazy things like buy entire cases of chocolate once in a while. Well, we went this weekend, and not only to have I have a big box of Twix to call my own, I now have this...

Yes, I am now the proud owner of a digital scale! When I first picked it up, giving Jamie the patented 'can we get this please' look, he thought it was for measuring ingredients for baking, or something like that. I laughed at his naivety and replied that it was, in fact, for knitting. He gave me a look that said 'I think you're confusing your hobbies', but simply nodded and said okay. So I plopped it into our shopping cart. I haven't used it for anything yet, but it's still exciting!

My digital scale hasn't ever left the kitchen for any knitting projects. However, I do have my eye on it for dividing balls for when I start two socks on two circulars. Is that your plan or is it for something more elaborate that I haven't thought of?

Yay, a digital scale! I so need one of these too. What I've taken to doing sometimes is winding my yarn into a ball (don't have a ball winder either), measuring the circumference, then using subsequent circumference measures to calculate how much volume of yarn I've used. It actually works pretty well, but having a scale would be MUCH easier. =)

And Twix! I would die for a box of Twix right now. Yummy.

I love Costco! I swear they have everything there :) You will find your scale so handy. I know I couldn't live without mine.

I'm envious now. I have the old, but not-so-reliable scale. I want a digital.

Becky: That's pretty much my plan. I've already tried dividing balls without one, and didn't do so well on the split.

Adrienne: I can just hear our former math teachers cheering at your use of math in a real-life situation! :D

Alice: They totally do! It's a little scary sometimes.

Marie: The only scale I've had before this one is the one in the bathroom that I use to weigh myself (haha!) Maybe you can ask for one for your birthday, or next major holiday that warrants gifting?

Seriously, who knew that knowing the formula for the volume of a sphere would actually come in handy someday?
