Against my better judgement...

Even though I probably shouldn't have, I started another project. I know I still have that sweater that still sits unfinished, but I just couldn't resist giving my new purchases a test drive ^__^

So, I've started a baby hat for a research associate in my lab who had a baby about 4 months ago. She's still on maternity leave, but her hubby is a prof in my department so I can easily pass it on through him. It's the umbilical cord hat from Stitch 'n Bitch, and I thought it would be so appropriate considering the field of research that we're in. It's still a work in progress, but it should only take me one or two more days to finish it.

This is the first project I've ever used dpns on!! I'm using two strands of Paton's Look at Me in baby blue and white (yup, I bought too much of the stuff when I made that baby blanket). I started the project on size 8 circulars instead of the size 7 that they recommend because the gauge worked out better that way. The dpns I have are size 7 though, but it doesn't really affect things all that much. You can barely tell where the change happens.

I've had a lot of fun with this one. It's nice knitting baby sized stuff cuz it goes by way faster than the adult versions. Oh, and those Denise Interchangables are the BOMB! I can't wait to use them again for another project!

I like the variegated effect on the hat. Is the yarn itself variegated or is it because you are knitting with two strands? I can't wait to see it when it's finished!

Yeah, I made it with two different strands. The Patons Look at Me is a bit too light to make the hat, so I doubled up and found that I really liked the effect.
